Traditional Riding at
The Mendip Stud
The first unaffiliated dressage competition that took place on Wednesday 26th July was a members only evening for the Wessex Riding club and everybody had a great night. Celia Gadd won the Walk and Trot and the Open section of the preliminary on Andy and Liz Snell's Neo Sprout who had only arrived at the stud five days before the show. Nicola Pratt was delighted to win a Western Riding lesson for being the best turned out of the evening and she thoroughly enjoyed her lesson with Shane and is keen to have another go soon. Lessons and schooling horses on the traditional side have been busy and Celia has had around ten horses in at one time for schooling. On Thursday September 21st a new BHS Stage One course commences with two hours instruction every other week. Even though the course will be aimed for Stage One it will be a useful course for anyone who wants to find out more about looking after their horse and improving their riding. It will be one hours riding and one hour of stable management and the course lasts for ten weeks. The cost of the session is £45 for one lesson or £400 if you want to book in for all ten. |

There is also now a
schoolmaster horse at the stud for English lessons as well as the four trained
Western riding horses so any type of rider can be well catered for. English
lessons with Celia Gadd BHSII BHS SM are £30 per hour.
