Monday again.........

Good weekend with lots of warm but clammy weather - good for the sweat glands.

Yankee has decided its better to socialise than to hide - Benson has had a tiring weekend.

Debbie had a good time on Jojo and Sarah and her two daughters loved the puppies. Jude came to visit - sadly I missed spending anytimne with her - sorry Jude catch up at the show.

Sarah and her mom visited - Chilli was on top form. Torah continued to be the worlds most capable one armed woman. Lou went to Wales and did her feed lecture. Gloria and Siobhan moved countless horses.

Cant believe it's nearly the end of June - where did the first six months go.

Congratulations to Chris and Don in Canada who had a great show weekend.

Chris wrote -'Sussex NB NRHA Show Kevin achieved two firsts in two classes, Geoffrey a 2nd and a 3rd - a 67 and a 71.5 for Kevin and a 69.5 and a 70 for dear old Jeffo - and Don won the Derby Class on his beautiful Magnum Chic Dream gelding - Hooray ! '

Countdown to the July show is underway - only 12 days to go.

Dog agility - on Tuesday.

have a good day everyone.

GAP - has started

We all wish Dean well on his travels - he started last Friday - tent, boots, rucksack, pack of beer, roll ups, good luck cards, money, and everything else you need for an epic adventure.

He was off to join Ells in Glastonbury !

On a serious note - have fun Dean. Hugs from Hannah, and from T - I'm sure the way Hannah spells hugs it starts with a G and has a P in it.

Blondie has settled and in lessoning well. Eric is learning about women.

Thanks to the 'muck out' team of yesterday - you were stars - breakfast was great thanks Lou. Danny is haymaking in the next few days - so less flies folks :)

Stables for the first of the shows arrive next week.

Mable met her husband Chilli in the breed barn - well almost - she teased him and he was the perfect gentleman.

Best wishes to Boyd who has not been well this week and good luck to Chris at the show today.

Congratulations to Eric and Sue on their 40th anniversary. Still can't get over the wedding picture and their teeth - amazing - film star smiles without the millionaire dentist bills.

Yankee had her first day out - she did great and Ludo did his usual - you cant but love me - seduction of all who saw him.

Debbie has her voice back and Jax sadly has flown home to Canada - it was great to see her.

Sarah is coming to visit her Chilli today - Lou is off to Wales - coffee is on and Siobhan is already mucking out.

Dave was due over yesterday hope we'll see him today.

Sandie and James called in to say hello, look at the puppies and arrange some dates to come work.

Good luck today to Angelo and Sadie - hope you get a direct hit this time.

That's about it for now - more to follow - enjoy the weather , Murray, the East Coast show, and good health.

Tuesday, 23 June 2009

And then came the rest of the week.

Monday came and went - without incident - well there were a few - a couple of twister ice creams and some great chocolate cake too.

Gloria and Charlotte who survived an easy but varied start to their working experience with us....... Siobhan continued to amaze us with her energy and zest for work - she's doing just great. A combined effort by the whole team managed to secure the capture of the uncatchable. Thanks to all especially Hannah and Ren who complete an in hand half marathon in the process.

Today is agility day with Little Orchard once again - I have decided that Ludo needs to be part of this on Tuesday's - Yankee though is proving to be the high jump specialist managing to clear the stable doors in one leap, a pull on the front legs , a scrabble with the back two and over.

Lou and Becky missed their yoga class..........I missed my MacDonald's milkshake.

Barbie is doing fine since her escapades of the other weekend. Star's foal is adorable. Blondie has settled well and is riding beautifully. Dylan had a great first lesson. Ziggy is becoming a laid back dude. Peanuts is becoming much more confident and handleble. Lady A is beginning to get fitter and Eric has met his match with the broodies.

New clinics to be announced tomorrow.

Time for shut eye and dreams

adieu mes amis.

The weekend report and changes in the teaching department at TMS

Changes in the teaching department at The Mendip Stud.

As some of you are already aware after three years of being part of our successful team Lisa has decided that it is time to move on to persue her own equestrian interests.

Over the time Lisa has been here she has not only shared our home and lifestyle but has also become part of our wider family. Her enthusiasm and drive have encouraged many people to start Western riding and both Lou and I are sure that she will continue to be a valued contributor to the Western scene in the years to come.

Lisa plans are to return to her native Wales to pursue her own equestrian career.

Teaching, shows and Clinics to continue. New clinicians and teaching programme to be introduced:

There will be no interruption to the teaching and training programme offered by The Mendip Stud. Experience days are to continue. Exciting new clinics and teaching appointments are being finalised - These will be announced in the next few days.

Western week and all other shows continue as planned.

The weekend report

Lots of warm weather a sprinkling of sun and only the merest impression of a drop or two of rain. A pretty full weekend with lots of comings and goings.

Jem Haze went home just as she arrived - ridden all the way - the only difference was she was carrying a baby on the return trip thanks to great work by Lou and of course Private B Riker. Ziggy looks distraught but I'm sure Sarah will sort that out tomorrow.

Blondie and Eric have settled well and we are looking forward to the other new arrivals in the next couple of weeks.

Stu and Shelby have settled in their new home and are apparently oblivious of the fact they have move location :)

Star and colt had a great time out in the paddock.

One of the puppies decided to sleep in the feed bowl :) picture to follow.

Half today - needed and eagerly awaited

Charlotte and Gloria join us on work experience and placement - good luck to them.

Three days before Dean sets off on his European Epic.........his travels will be documented here on the blog.

Heather and Jem who leave tomorrow - Jem going home carrying a Riker baby

Hannah on their trip to Cirencester...sorry you went 'a pieds' as opposed to 'en cheval'

Everyone doing the clinic this weekend.

Thanks to:

David and Pauline Brimson who have decided to stand down from their posts at BR and for all,the work thay have done in the last few years promoting and building the sport.

The person who walked off with the large bottle of fly spray. NOT

All those who took the time and trouble to write about the Area 3 show.

Hope everyone has a great weekend - enjoy the weather - and as they say on some TV channel in Texas - 'ride a good horse'.

Now listen up Tora - missing one blog is not a capital crime

Wednesday - a touch damp in places - mostly three pairs of jeans - yes Jerry I know - waterproofs :)

Lots to comment on.

Lots of very positive responses to the show. We'll need to do another one soon - TBC . New member of the equine family in the form of Tutu. Stuart is off to a new home in the next few days. Sarah has been a star - Ziggy is a new horse and Sarah has a chesire on her face. For a temporarily one armed woman Tora is pretty exceptional. Mark and Jerry will be moving back to Kelston in the first week of July - it's ben great having them here - Mark has taught us a lot and we'll miss them. Sarah is staying on until her placement is over so we'll be glad of her company for the balance of the Summer. eight days until Dean becomes Eurodean as he sets of on his GAP tour of Europe - suggestions as to what GAP may mean in his case please - here's a starter - Going Away Philandering ? Send 'em in guys -

The Show results are being posted tomorrow.

Oh yes......................Dave has fixed his wedding date for friday the 14th August.

One day to go before the Area 3 show this weekend.

Mark and Mags went to Bodium to visit an old friend and came back with some pleasing results.
Tora can Sarah paid us a visit. Lou hit the Weston and Costco and stocked up for the weekend. Wills made the sound system a sound system rather than a silent system.

Jerry and Sarah are making Tee Cee into something special.

Pepper hunt and Jess left - the later to her new home with Kim and Pepper to enjoy the delights of a pregnancy.

Sadie and Josie go home today - Josie scanned pregnant and Sadie with 15 straws of hope going with her !

Thursday, 11 June 2009

Wednesday - well early Thursday.

Baaaaaaaaaaaa

One of those days you wish you hadn't started at times but then when you've finished you reflect on the things that happened and what you had got done.

Lisa returned from Paris a little less than happy with Air France but safe and sound and in the end that's all that matters.

Malcolm and Elaine came to stay - had a great time - Malcolm watched his first AI and then ate curry whilst watching the rugby.

Josie is in foal as is Chip and we are doing our best to get Sadie under way with Revenge. Ren lounged like a man possessed. Dylan giggled - and Ziggy had a day off. Barbie wanted to know where Penny had gone.

Mark helped get the show office into place and prepared the Arena for the show.

Dean was Dean as usual.......Lou had a great day in the breed barn.

Chilli gets to be freeze tested tomorrow.

Thoughts too for Sarah in naming her new colt JC in honour of John Coleman a good neighbour and friend who sadly lost his fight with bone cancer in November last year. 'm sure JC will do him proud. Great idea Sarah :)

long day ahead - and I'm already up just about to start.

Have a good'un all

Monday Monday ......(a la beatles)

What an interesting start to a week............

No day off - no change - it sucks but then that's life.

Lil gave us a real shock this morning - twixt being fed by Dom at 7.45 and watered by Wills at 10.15 she very sneakily produced an awesome Studley baby - Lou's hunter under saddle dream - born big beautiful and female. The name will come soon - promise.

Next up a surprise visit from Mike and Carol - good to seem them - they both looked fantastic after losing stones - well done to them. Looking forward to seeing them at the shows later in the year.

Mark P came over and helped a lot with thinking.

Lou took me to meet Fret and see her horses.

Penny decide to stay over for another night.

Chris came home from Pris and Lisa didn't ....Chris took the early shuttle and Lisa 's plane was cancelled due to technical difficulties ..... what some folk will do for and extra night in Paris eh.

Chris made it to NC safe and sound.

Comments or not .....

Evening all - no it's not Dixon of Dock green - damn that ages me - its just your humble blogger doing his Sunday best.

Firstly Becky unfortunately received a split lip at the Wurzzells concert - apparently too much booze for too many with too few grey cells to consider the outcome ........ I am told she is OK but has decided to take security next year in the form of Ray and yours truly. We'll give 'em split lip :)

Many congratulations to Sarah on the purchase of her colt......can't name him yet as he has yet to be christened by his new Ma.

Penny has had a good weekend with Barbie - she seems a lot more relaxed then when she arrived. Ozzie & Rosie settled into the Mendip routine too.

Hannah's Duke went to join other loved four legged friends today - our thoughts are with Hannah together with respect for taking the most difficult , but right , decision.

Debbie looked awesome again on Jojo.

Sarah Simmons is doing a groundwork clinic in Western Week - first two places have already been taken and that's in only 5 minutes of telling folk about it.

Well done Frome lad - Jensen B - 6 out of & GP wins - win at Silverstone please.

Lisa back tomorrow from Paris - Julia and Nathalie are doing the Ilan Clinic.

Night all.

Not such fun.........

Understand from Dom that the Wurzells was not such fun..........brawls and booze. more to follow.

Catch up.........

Tis Sunday morning.

Sadie and Josie were happy to see Sue and Angelo. Before I forget and to put the record straight - Happy Birthday Angelo. Well it was yesterday but better late than never. Pictures of Ashe on their way to Sue.

New arrival in the form of Blanche - a beautiful , and big , filly out of Cindy by Studley. Perfect timing for the two students Shannon and Faye who stay over to help on foal-watch. Lucky them - what a record - One night up - one foal.

Sarah did just great with Ziggy and Debbie and Jojo are looking awesome. Penny has come to stay and her barbie seems to have turned into the mare she always dreamed of.

Lou and my thoughts are with Hannah today.

Dom and Becky went to the Wurzzells last night - hope Becky did as promised and streaked - will bet a cider or two she didn't !

Lisa is away in Paris on the course and my mum is coming over later today. Mark made it back form Canada on time and from what I hear with out problems.

Getting the place ready for next weeks Area 3 show - looking forward to it.

Dave and Judy visited and told us of their wedding plans.

Off to muck out and clear space to watch the GP

Tora - Dylan is doing fine seems to have buddied up with Copy - boys club methinks.

Tomorrow is day off time.

Thors day

My Norwegian uncle was called Thor. he wasn't warlike but quite the opposite.

Sarah and Ziggy are today's stars - closely followed by Porsche who braved her freeze mark stoically. The freeze brand lady said business was great - sadly helped by thefts of horses - sick isn't it.

Cat was dancing - lady A was chilling and we have a full house tonight. penny's coming to stay on the weekend and Mother Lerwill popped in to say hello. Frances and Julian too.

Lisa is off to Paris on a show managers course tomorrow and i am being taken to lunch by Peter. Fliss got away safely from the airport despite Lou being stranded at the pay kiosk without enough dosh on her. Sonia and Laura came to visit - now there's a lady with a story or two to tell ......barrel racer extraordinaire too !

have fun folks - more tomorrow.

Now look what you've gone and done.

Thursday - the weather forecast has changed - no blue sky's - cloud on the horizon and behind that some pretty awful rain storms predicted for Sunday. Who said 'we could do with some rain' , shoot 'em ! who said 'it wont last' , shoot 'em. Who said ' it's bound to rain on the weekend', shoot 'em ! Bullets sponsored by Multi-block - Suntan lotions.

Hope Lisa's Millie gets her throat sorted out at the vets - I think it's all a cunning plan to spend more time in Mamio John's biscuit barrel or on her kitchen table .

Sarah had a great day with Ziggy. Prue said she was coming to the show and may drag Mike along too. Dave H popped in to say hello, good to see him looking so much better. Roxy had a paddling pool party. Studley did his job and his produce is travelling care of Royal mail. Bizarre isn't it. Lisa came back from being her mums chaperon - no news on Chris's stolen boat. I so hope they catch the B******'s. Zip and Elmo are enjoying their new field. Fliss is arriving today to be chauffeur driven to the airport and we have visitors from Holland in the B&B. Thanks to Niki Rosenberg for all her help.

Horse flies are about in numbers - shoot 'em too :)

Missed Jo's call - have a good holiday if you read this Jo speak when you get back. I'm sure we can work a deal :)

Need some volunteers to help at the WES show weekend after next.

Hi Tora - hope the op went successfully - look forward to seeing you back at base just as soon as you can. Dylan is fine.

Hannah is going to get Ren fit for the weekend. Sunny had his first day out and was a completely laid back and under-impressed. Cindy is now the cctv star.

Malcolm couldn't make it down this week. We missed you Mal and Elaine.

Lou and Robert are off to do a feed lecture next week at the Sanctuary.

Ellie is legally allowed to drive - happy birthday week Ells - looking forward to seeing you on Saturday.

That's about it for today folks.

PS - please keep sending in comments. I do need to know I am talking not only to myself but at least one other - thanks Penny I know you are :)

Tuesday, 2 June 2009

Well spotted !

This is Tuesday's blog - a little late I know :)

04.36 a.m. Izzy delivered a stunning colt by Riker.............for you appaloosa officianados - a near leopard. Lesley has decided to call him 'Sunny Oh So True'

Sarah and Ziggy started their working programme and Dom lunged Hannah for Ren :)

Mamio John went off to see Boys Own - hope she had a great time and Chris Keable was careless enough to have his boat stolen from outside his house having left it there attached and locked to his trailer for only 7 hours - what took the b********'s so long. Good luck with the insurance and the recovery.

Peter came down to get his tailer on the road - he did a fine job in washing it and tidying it up ably assisted by his batman/valet - yours truly.

Dog Agility filled the evenings entertainment and a spontaneous 'lets go for a curry' offer by Dean and Andrea made Lou and my day complete. - Dean ( the other one ) and Wills unblocked the mother of all drain blockages as usual were stars.

Good weather planned for today too ..........I'm lovin it

Monday, 1 June 2009
