Wednesday's lot...........

Sarah arrived with Sharon and the great Chilli - he looks great - awesome actually and a credit to Sarah. equine footabll played at 11.30 p.m. in the indoor - Chilli scored a hatrick , three corners and was red carded for ungentlemanly conduct in making improper advances to a young filly.

Four of the babies are now out and about in the polo field - all gadding and frolicking about - they are just a grand picture to behold.

Next 'riding the recession' will be a the Conquest Centre in Taunton - will keep you all informed of the exact details as and when they are available.

Oh what a night...............

We had the pleasure of a visit from Jess, Dale and Imogen of the Conquest RDA centre in Taunton .......we had a ball - they loved the horses - we loved their company. Copy, Splash and Goose did us proud. There is so much the quarter horse has to offer through its temperament to centres such as Conqust and we are making plans to get some lessons and participation under way - expect a call Mr Brimson :)

Stuart had a quiet day munching on his new feed and taking in the surroundings.

Jerry will be bringing over 'Smoothy' sometime over the weekend.

Another new Arrival ....

04.05 a.m. ................I cant stop singing 'born to be alive'

To Brenta a beautiful snow-cap filly by Private B Riker ............this filly is our friends from Dubai's endurance horse in the making ....

Pictures to follow.

Coming home

Dave made it back to Wells after five weeks of hospital and a major heat operation . Great news ! And on the four legged front Stuart returned to TMS after spending time at Wye Oak and at Terrie's.

Lucinda mare delivered her a colt safely in the early hours - congrats to them all but Brenta despite showing lots of signs of discomfort still feels there's plenty of cooking to do.

Ludo our new stud dog puppy is at last getting the idea that the toilet is an outside venue as opposed to one in the indoor arena :)

Sarah stud horse arrives tomorrow and we are looking forward to that.

thanks to those who are commenting on the blog it makes it feel as if writing it is worthwhile.

April showers.

Oh yes, the dry spell came to an end with avangeance this morning...........April showers my ass. Rained like a good 'un.

The 'Riding the Recession' show went well at Bristol yesterday - numbers could have been better but overall the show itself was slicker and more meaningful.......looking forward to the next one.

Dave is going to keep us informed as to when he gets home - it seems such a quick turn-around from last week when we all thought he had weeks more of hospital.

Can't believe we are in the last week of the month - where is all this time going to ?

Great news ...............Dave has just called to say that he is going home to his girlfriends Judy's tomorrow.

All the crew here send him our very best wishes - we are so pleased he has made such good progress.

Hope you get to read this sooner rather than later Dave ...........

OK, so I got it wrong.....day 4 and she's a (very fresh!!) megastar....that'll be Peggy ( my 4yo QH). Yep, when she's good, she's very very good, a megastar yet again sir.....XX

Glad to hear that Sharon ................

Lucinda came down yesterday and did her wonders with her electric toothbrush on a couple of the horses... they seen to be munching happy now !

Chris managed to get his boat back in the water - and out again with the engine still not working - think I'd do a runner if I were the boat repairer.

Lou and I are off today to the second of the 'Riding the Recession' days - Avon centre in Bristol this time.

Foal names

At 24 April 2009 22:12 , Peggy Sharon said...

Maybe the 2005babies should have been named after nursery rhymes.I have a little girl, with a little curl right to the end of her bonnet. And when she's very good, she's very, very good, and when she is not she's a little b***ard!!

Serves me right for giving her 7 months off, methinks!!Currently figures she's a racehorse, flaring nostrils and score's Pegs 10, me 2......day 3 and counting!!

Good thing we didn't name them after politicians she would no doubt have been a Edwina

New Arrival - 3.55 a.m.

3.55 am ...........

Rona decided to share her foal with the rest of us......a beautiful spotted colt by Private B Riker.... born with a minimum amount of fuss and on his feet within minutes.

His yard mane will be Ashe - after that great athlete, sportsman and Wimbledon winner Arthur Ashe.

Congratulations to Geoff and Alex on the purchase of their new horse........

Friday's blog............at least the first one !

Good morning all...........

Well at least I think it is - Sun is shinning, horses are looking great. Splash is in season. Dave is getting betterand will soon be on a ward where we can visit him. Malcolm is in the arena learning to lope. Elaine is smoking and reading - her bit of R & R. Chancellor is an ass. Amanda Tolstoy did her bit on the Quarter Horse the other night - what did you think ? - was she a bit of a wuss ? Good programme though especially the joining up bit.

Lou and I are off tomorrow to pick up Stuart. Thanks to Chris a Diamond in Hollywood son for me to ride.

We are pleased to announce that Little Orchard Dog Training Academy will be here using TMS as a training venue for their agility programme starting on the 19th May for the first of their 10 session programme of the summer. 'CLUB' members get a 10% discount. See the programme on their website - www.little-orchard.co.uk/

Rona is still hanging onto her baby .................come on girl :)

Hannah and Tora will become new liveries at the end of the month - a warm welcome to them.

Chris Keeble is on a mission - cant get his boat in the water - six months many thousands £££ and it don't go !!!! methinks he will be mad with boat fixer.

Celia's birthday binge tonight - last year she set fire to the house and this year she's blown the car up ............. let's not encourage her to go bungee jumping next year !

So far so good :)

WES Area 3

WES Area 3

As there was no one able to take over the WES Area 3 role from Sally House we have offered to stand in until the end of the year. Sally has done a great job and we hope we can continue in the same vein

The Area 3 show will be held here on Sunday the 14th June. There will be limited stabling available for those wishing to come the night before. Booked on a first come first served basis at a cost of £17.50 including bale of shavings. The show judge will be Sherie Dermody

Food and drinks available all day.

We will try to organise a pre-show clinic on the weekends before the show for those wanting to brush up their skills and techniques.

Schedule to be released later this week.

As soon as addresses etc are available we will contact all Area 3 members.

News from Dave.

Dave had a quadruple by pass last night - the operation was successful and he is currently in the intensive care unit. Other than that know litle more.

Will put details up of ward number and visiting details when we have them.

Numero uno blog.

Welcome to the Mendip Stud Blog.

We thought we'd use this method of keeping you in the loop as to what is going on here at the Farm on a regular basis.

Today has been really strange as our thoughts are with Dave Hambidge, better known to most of you as the guy who grades the arena. Dave is undergoing heart surgery today having suffered heart attacks three weeks ago and has been hospitalised since. Our thoughts are with him, his family and girlfriend. We'll let you know how he is doing tomorrow.

Lucinda McAlpine visited last night to continue to promote her tour - 'Riding the Recession' - 'we are all looking forward to Sunday at the Avon Equestrian centre for the second of the road shows. Well worth popping in if you are in the area. Great ideas to save the pounds and pennies in these difficult times.

Babies are doing fine - we have three on the floor - Venus, Boris and now Maria - a long legged filly named after Maria Shriver ! (This year our babies are being given yard names of Wimbledon champions.) Rona is still hanging on - she's as big as a bus and looks ready to pop and Bridie and Issy are just enjoying the pampering the soon-to-be mums get here.

Lisa's BR clinic on the weekend seemed to be a real success - lots of great comments from all those who attended.

Lou's been out and about with Robert Fowler introducing fibre feed to new customers.

Please let us know any news we can add to the blog - make it somewhere to visit every day to keep up with the news and views.

Though for the day: "Don't join dangerous cults: Practice safe sects! "
