Luxury Farmhouse Accommodation

The Mendip Stud is situated in the grounds of Bow Farm, an impressive 18th Century farmhouse set in 100 acres of working farmland on the Somerset levels. The grounds feature a stunning lake planted with trees, shrubs, perennials and marginal plants, together with an abundance of natural wildlife. The house also has a magnificent view of the Mendip Hills, particularly towards Crook Peak and looking back to Cheddar Gorge.

Bed & breakfast is available in one of our luxurious bedrooms. Breakfasts can be home cooked with local produce or continental style. Prices start from £55.00 per room per night with breakfasts from £5.95 per person and we would recommend calling to check availability in advance.

Non-riders will have plenty to do with fishing, shooting and walking available and the many nearby tourist attractions such as Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole.

Shopping is available in the nearby Weston-super-Mare, and we are within 30 minutes of both Taunton and The Mall at Bristol. The historic city of Bath is also just a 45 minutes journey from The Mendip Stud.

The M5 motorway is 10 minutes drive and Bristol Airport only 20km away. There are flights into Bristol from most European countries and also now from New York, Orlando and other more exotic locations. Click here for directions.

The 48 hours advance notice deadline is from 48 hours prior to check in time (2.00 p.m.) on date of arrival.

Sidcot Premiere Travel Inn

Directions: From the North, exit the M5 at junction 21 towards Weston-super-Mare and take the A371 up through Banwell into Winscombe. At the traffic lights turn right onto the A38. The hotel is approximately 400 yards on the left hand side.
From the South, exit the M5 at junction 22 towards Burnham-on-Sea. Take the A38 towards Bristol and Bristol Airport. The hotel is approximately 15 minutes from the junction on the right hand side.

A total of 31 rooms at the Travel Inn, 6 smoking rooms and 25 non smoking rooms on either the ground or first floor, each room offers the following facilities:* En-suite bath and shower, with shower gel * Remote control TV * Tea/coffee facilities * Hairdryer Internet access is available at the Travel Inn (charges apply).

We have a Brewers Fayre restaurant attached where breakfast can be taken Monday - Friday between 7.00am and 9.00am and between 8.00am and 10.00am at weekends. The all you can eat full breakfast is £7.50 per person and continental breakfast £5.25 per person. The restaurant is also open for meals from 12.00 midday until 10.00pm and the restaurant and bar area is totally non-smoking.

Brent Knoll Lodge

A picturesque Somerset Inn, parts of which are believed to date from the 18th Century with a newly constructed adjacent travel lodge style hotel, conveniently located alongside Brent Knoll on the A38 just 550 metres north of the East Brent roundabout from junction 22 of the M5 motorway near Burnham on Sea

Trap Lamp Cottage

If you would like to make a holiday of it and we don't have availability then you can also rent cottages such as the delightful Trap Lamp Cottage. Set in the village of Cross and surrounded by the beautiful countryside of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), the cottage offers cosy fully-modernised, self-catering accommodation for up to 4 adults.

Built in the mid 19th C, the cottage’s name derives from its origins as the store for lanterns used to light the carriages that once stopped here at the White Hart Inn. Thankfully the main road no longer goes through the village but Old Coach Road was originally the main route from Cornwall to London and the horses were changed for fresh ones here.

The Inn itself is reputedly haunted by the ghost of Judge Jeffries and his victims - the current landlord will tell tales of strange goings on as he pulls your excellent pint. Nothing spooky in the cottage though!
